Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny sleepy town. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar of its purpose. It is often believed that it's an island located that lies west of Montreal, but it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, this is not true. Brugel was a woman of a certain age in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. Early ambitions were to become an expert dancer. Then, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow every dance partner she had. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. Once I was bigger than the size of my male companion then I slowed down. The Brugel is one of the former dancers who shifted to acting. Her high school teacher school was what pushed her to take the next step. One of her teachers suggested she take part in an audition for the annual school play. She auditioned and eventually got the lead for the role in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Her career spans 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions, both on big screens and smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale which was filmed over ten years ago.
